The Neutral Ground Academy

Through the generous support of a grant from the New Orleans Tourism & Cultural Fund, Neutral Ground Coffee House is proud to present The Neutral Ground Academy—a six-month series of free, community-centered classes created to cultivate the next generation of New Orleans culture bearers.

Rooted in the belief that music, hospitality, and shared creative spaces are essential to the city’s cultural life, The Listening Room Academy will provide participants with practical skills, mentorship, and inspiration to pursue meaningful opportunities in the performing arts, hospitality industry, and music business.

Participants will learn from experienced local artists, industry professionals, educators, and cultural leaders through accessible workshops, conversations, and hands-on learning experiences. Programming will explore the many roles that make New Orleans’ creative economy thrive—from performing and producing live music to creating welcoming hospitality experiences, building professional networks, and understanding the behind-the-scenes work that sustains a vibrant cultural community.

More than a class series, The Listening Room Academy is a space for connection. It is designed to bring together emerging performers, aspiring hospitality professionals, music lovers, and creative community members in an environment where they can learn, collaborate, and grow.

By removing financial barriers to participation, Neutral Ground Coffee House hopes to create an inclusive pathway for young and emerging leaders to develop their talents, strengthen their confidence, and carry New Orleans’ living cultural traditions forward. Classes are offered primarily to students age 14-20, with some classes geared to young professionals. See each class description and registration for details.

The Neutral Ground Academy is free to attend and open to community members ready to learn, create, and help shape the future of New Orleans culture.

Classes begin September 28th. Some Classes are cumulative, some are drop-in.
